Interprofessional Experience for Future Education Professionals: School Psychology and Speech-Language Pathology Students

Educational training programs are tasked with addressing potential barriers to interprofessional practice through experiences that promote collaborations. The present study of (IPE) had both research and pedagogical purposes. purpose was describe graduate student self-perceptions related teaming/collaboration before after an IPE involving two educational programs, school psychology speech-language pathology. convey a detailed description case-based offered as course assignment offer implementation suggestions. Participants in this course-based were 109 students the pathology at medium-sized midwestern university over four-year period. Students engaged part graded class case studies. Pre- post-IPE surveys used determine changes students’ perceptions their own profession training, others’ professions, collaboration teaming. Results indicated perception from significantly improved following IPE. Improved collaboration, teaming, one another’s professions sustained four years implementation. Implications for research, practice, discussed.
